Business and Inequality Days held at IESE Barcelona and the Borsa de Barcelona. (September 18-19)
Academics and experts debate the role of the company in reducing inequalities. Topics such as shared prosperity, progressive ownership and conscious governance were covered. Ethical private equity and creating value with supply chains were also discussed.
We heard experiences from Patagonia and Tony’s Chocolonely, examples of companies that, after reflecting on their purpose, have become successful models.
The Patagonia’s Model demonstrates how a company can combine sustainability, social responsibility and profitability. Patagonia generates profits and contributes to the well-being of the planet and society, marking a new management model.
Tony’s Chocolonely, a Dutch chocolate brand founded in 2005 by Teun van de Keuken, is known for its fight against child slavery and forced labor in the cocoa industry. Their model is based on social responsibility and ethics in the supply chain, with the clear goal of producing 100% slavery-free chocolate.
